Statue of Ismoil Somoni
The Statue of Ismoil Somoni in Dushanbe's central Dusti Square is a monumental symbol of Tajikistan's national identity. Erected in 1999 to mark the 1100th anniversary of the Samanid State, it pays tribute to Ismoil Somoni, the dynasty's founder and the revered "Father of the Nation." The impressive monument, standing over 25 meters tall, features Somoni beneath a towering arch crowned with a spectacular seven-star gold replica of the Samanid crown. The statue, which replaced a Soviet-era monument, is a powerful statement of national pride and cultural heritage, symbolizing the revival of the ancient Tajik state. Its prominence in the heart of the capital solidifies its status as a key historical and cultural landmark, with the national currency, the Somoni, also named in his honor.
