Haji Yaqub Mosque
Haji Yaqub Mosque is the central mosque of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Named after the religious leader Haji Yaqub, it can accommodate over 3,000 worshippers and is one of the city’s most prominent places of worship. The mosque was established in 1856 with financial support from Haji Yaqub and his mother, and was built as a mosque between 1905 and 1910. Its architecture reflects traditional Tajik design and craftsmanship, featuring carved columns, arched mihrabs, and two-story porticos. Located near the Islamic University of Tajikistan, it also houses the country’s Islamic Center and Council of Ulema.
