Hazret Sultan Mosque
Hazret Sultan Mosque is the largest and most magnificent mosque in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana. Built in classical Islamic style with national ornamentation, it stands as a spiritual symbol of the country. Constructed between 2010 and 2012, the mosque covers 17,700 m² and accommodates 5,000 to 10,000 worshippers. The main dome rises 51 m high with a diameter of 28.1 m. Each of the four minarets stands 77 m tall. The complex includes separate prayer halls for men and women, a marriage hall, ablution areas, a library, and an Islamic cultural center. The mosque is named after the honorific title of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi — “Hazret Sultan.” It is located near the Palace of Independence, the “Kazakh Eli” monument, and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation
