Bayterek Tower

Bayterek Tower is an iconic architectural monument in Astana, symbolizing Kazakhstan’s independence and aspirations for the future. It is one of the capital’s most recognized landmarks. Opened in 2002, the tower stands 105 meters tall, topped with a 22-meter diameter golden glass orb. Designed by architect Akmyrza Rustembekov, the concept was initiated by Nursultan Nazarbayev. The structure is inspired by the legend of the Samruk bird laying the sun egg atop the tree of life. Visitors can take an elevator to the panoramic observation deck and enjoy views of the city. At the top, the “Ayaly Alakan” (Blessed Palm) sculpture features the handprint of Kazakhstan’s First President. Bayterek represents national unity, peace, and progress.
